Communities In Schools of Pennsylvania Grows Through the Capital Region

On Nov. 11 2010, Lyndsay Frank, Executive Director of the Capital Region and ten AmeriCorp members acting as Integrated Student Service Providers were deployed to three school districts spanning eight different schools within the Harrisburg area. Within less than a month of working and establishing relationships within Harrisburg School District, Steelton-Highspire School District and Lower Dauphin School District, our members have begun inserting themselves adequately into the existing structure of each school while implementing the Communities In Schools model.

The 5 Basics

Communities in Schools believes every child needs and deserves these "Five Basics."

1 A one-on-one caring relationship with an adult.
2 A safe place to learn and grow.
3 A healthy start and a healthy future.
4 A marketable skill to use upon graduation.
5 A chance to give back to peers and community.
